Furlough payments for Supply Teachers throughout the Summer Holidays / until the end of August:
During these uncertain times small companies like ourselves have had to dig deep and really pull together. We have been involved in highlighting the specific issues surrounding supply teachers with the furlough scheme. We have been working with the unions, REC and the Crown Commercial Services and are pleased that our comments have been discussed in the government’s BEIS discussion group. We have challenged schools and local councils to ensure we have taken the most proactive approach to protect the livelihood of our supply teachers.
As we go into the next stage of furlough, we would like to reassure you that we have taken the decision to continue to furlough staff directly paid by Mana until the end of August. We have highlighted the issues that agencies and umbrella companies are unable to contribute to the furlough scheme as they have no income themselves and need to ensure they stay afloat during the pandemic. This is currently a hot topic they are discussing during BEIS meetings, and we are hoping for their commitment to make changes to the furlough scheme for supply teachers (and agency staff). We are yet to hear any positive update but we do remain hopeful that they can address the situation in time. That said, at this stage we are unable to confirm whether we can continue to help after August and ask you to prepare to take necessary precautions to try to ensure some financial support. There is a lot of government advice and schemes in place to help which can be found here.
Please be assured of our ongoing commitment to our teachers and supply staff.
