Why all Supply Teachers should register their DBS with the Update Service

Save time, effort and money with the DBS Update Service:
What is the DBS update service and why should supply teachers register there?
The disclosure and barring service (DBS) update service is something which all supply teachers, supply teaching assistants and supply support staff are required to be part of, why? Because an enhanced DBS certificate registered with the update service allows multiple potential employers to check the DBS certificate - something which all Schools, Colleges and Education Institutions are required to do. In essence, putting your DBS on the update service simply makes it portable.
Furthermore a DBS on the update service allows applicants to keep their certificates up to date, without the need to obtain a new DBS certificate with every new post. Once on the update service, as long as your DBS remains the same, you shouldn't have to obtain another DBS certificate ever again, meaning the days of owning multiple DBS certificates at anyone time should be over now.
In order to keep a DBS on the update service you have to pay an annual subscription charge of £13, which is considerably less than the cost of a new DBS certificate. You can only place enhanced DBS certificates on the update service and you have to place a certificate on the service within 30 days of receiving your enhanced DBS certificate.
In order to put your enhanced DBS on the update service you will need your certificate number and the date of its issue, which will be on your certificate. Certificates are placed on the update service via the government website. For more info please click here
