You need to be a strong character for this role, in order to manage the classroom behaviour.
It can be a rewarding job and a useful way of getting experience in the classroom for those with teaching ambitions.
The cover supervisor's main job is to manage a classroom, ensuring that students remain on task with the work they have been set.
Cover supervisors:
Don't plan
Don't necessarily have to have the subject knowledge
Don't mark work
Don't set homework
Don't set targets
As a cover supervisor you may be required to undertake the following duties:
Teaching grammar
Managing behaviour
Discussing and debating texts with pupils and answering questions

Qualifications needed to become a cover supervisor
Cover supervisors are often highly qualified and may even have QTS. Many schools specify an honours degree as a minimum educational requirement and like their CSs to have experience of working with young people.
