If you're reading this, you're probably thinking about making a return to the classroom, and for that, we thank you already!
Mana Education has been delighted to welcome many ex and retired teachers who have answered the Governments call for supply teachers and helped us to help the nations pupils in the wake of a mass teacher shortage, something which we are incredibly grateful for. Understandably, those who have spent some time away from Teaching will have A LOT of questions about Teaching work, the world of Supply Teaching and how Covid 19 has affected things in the classroom.
Thankfully, we have been able to conjure up some resources which may help you get to grips with things. Firstly we recommend that you visit our blog on supply teaching myths and truths busted, which will provide you with the facts and the fakes associated with supply teaching in general and how the supply world generally works.
There is also some advice laid out on the government website for education, this provides information on what is required and why it is important to register for work with recognized agencies like us. You can see the information here.
We have also included some FAQ's below which we hope will also help, however we have a super friendly and helpful team here at Mana so if you are considering supply work then the best option for you is to give us a call and we will be happy to explain everything with you. To discuss your options, our services, your needs and how we can help you, please give the office a call on: 01572821985. We are accepting applications from ex teachers, teaching assistants, support staff and cover supervisors. Last but not least, we have online packs of information and resources available to all our staff, if you would like an info pack, please get in touch and we will send you access to one.
FAQ's
I want to Teach again, How can I?
Join an agency. Supply Agencies help with all aspects of the recruitment process, they take care of all of the necessary pre-employment / DBS checks required for work in Schools and they also offer training should it be required. Supply Agencies work directly with Schools who require staff so they have the best pool of vacancies for your area. Schools tend to approach supply agencies for all of their vacancies, so agencies are often the first to be made aware of upcoming vacancies within schools too.
My availability is sporadic or limited, will this hinder me?
As long as you find the right supply agency, this will not be an issue. At Mana Education, we work around our Teachers needs, not the other way around. Therefore if you are looking for work here and there, one day a week or on a full or part-time basis, either way, we will do our best to accommodate.
Do I get a say in what type of work is offered to me?
Yes. When we offer work to our staff there is never an obligation on them to accept the work. If you would like work in a certain sector or location, or would like a specific teaching role based around your subject specialism, all you have to do is tell us and we will do the rest.
How will my Pension be affected if I return?
If you have a pension with the Teacher Pension Scheme then this will not be affected, however there may be some changes to your Tax, something which we will talk you through.
