Mana Education is looking for an Exceptional Teacher of Chemistry to to join a team and to contribute enthusiastically and creatively to maintaining and moving forward an outstanding department. This is an excellent opportunity to work at one of our "OUTSTANDING" client schools in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire on a permanent contract with the school, commencing in September 2015. This will involve teaching KS3 - KS5 Chemistry.

Between Years 9 and 11, students follow the AQA GCSE Science courses. Students either study Core and Additional Science, or Triple Science, depending on ability and teaching group. For KS5 the students follow the AQA A-level Chemistry course and students achieve excellent results, making Sixth Form teaching at this school a stimulating and rewarding experience. All teachers in the Chemistry department teach multiple Sixth Form classes.

JOB DESCRIPTION - Chemistry Teacher
My Client is looking to appoint an outstanding teacher of Chemistry who is able to contribute to a successful and hard-working department. The successful applicant will be the fourth member of the team of specialist Chemistry teachers, but will also work within the wider Science department of thirteen teachers. S/he will have a passion for working with young people and will be able to offer innovative teaching strategies, excellent subject knowledge and a commitment to maintaining the outstanding attainment and progress our students achieve.

All students at the School study Science until the end of year 11. For Years 7 and 8, they
use an in-house KS3 Scheme of Learning that seeks to inspire curiosity in Science and give a
grounding in basic scientific knowledge as well as developing excellent scientific enquiry
skills. KS3 lessons are driven by practicals and allow teachers space to use creative
approaches in the classroom.

In the Sixth Form, many students choose to study Chemistry and a large number of students continue to study Chemistry related courses including: Medicine and Veterinary Medicine; Chemical Engineering and Chemistry at Russell Group Universities. Their Year 12/13 students have the opportunity to visit lectures in London, participate in the Cambridge Chemistry competition and the RSC Chemistry Olympiad.

The Chemistry department occupies three well appointed, Chemistry-specific laboratories,
and incorporates a large preparation area and an ICT suite. The school has a highly skilled and knowledgeable technician who is a Chemistry specialist and is able to offer expert advice in preparing class practical's and demonstrations. Chemistry teachers here teach Science to Years 7 and 8, and Chemistry only to Years 9-13. The whole Science department use a shared work area, facilitating excellent opportunities for communication and enabling supportive, professional working relationships amongst staff across the three Science disciplines, this is in addition to regular meetings within curriculum areas and across the whole department. The Chemistry department are a strong team whose focus is Teaching and Learning. All teaching staff contributes to detailed Schemes of Learning which constantly evolve to incorporate innovative ideas and new developments.

*QTS or a Degree with a strong curriculum based teaching experience, Key Stage 3 - Key Stage 5.
