Salary: £32,916 - £51,047 + TLR 2B

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Geography to lead the development of a new, knowledge-rich Geography department at a growing secondary school. As a key member of the leadership team, you'll shape the curriculum and drive academic excellence across KS3 and KS4 and, as the school expands, into KS5. This position offers a unique opportunity to build a team and establish Geography as a vibrant and inspiring subject from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the Geography department, including curriculum design, assessment and resource development.

Inspire excellent teaching and learning that engages and challenges students.

Recruit, mentor and develop future colleagues as the school grows.

Promote fieldwork, enrichment and cross-curricular programmes.

Contribute to whole-school academic and professional growth.

Requirements

Strong subject knowledge and teaching experience in Geography.

Prior leadership experience or potential in a middle leadership/HoD role.

Ability to design an ambitious, evidence-informed curriculum.

Excellent communication, organisation and team building skills.
