GCSE's - What does the new grading system mean?
Along with a refreshed curriculum, a new grading scheme has also been introduced in place of the A*- E system. The new numerical system sees GCSE grades range from 9-1 and has abolished the former alphabetical system, however, other than the grading system itself, nothing much has really changed; pupils still need the equivalent of a Grade C, which is now a grade 4, to pass for instance. So what do the new grades mean and how do they compare with their predecessor?

Now, if a pupil were to receive a grade 3 or below, this would be classed as a fail, likewise anything above a 3 is deemed as a pass.
