Red Arrows Competition

Update 11th September 2017

Good morning,

What a wonderful weekend! Although the weather wasn’t brilliant it was still a fantastic weekend at the RAF Scampton Airshow...

Our Red Arrow Competition entries were admired by many and people commented on the brilliant creativity from the children that entered.

On the Saturday, I took a friend's father round who is a veteran, he flew in 'The Chipmunk' planes back in 1952 and a Blackburn Moth when he completed his National Service. He also told me the story of his father who flew in the Catalina back in 1943.

On Sunday I was very lucky to be allowed to go in the Red Arrows Hanger, where my 3 year old nephew also accompanied me, where we were told that this is where the Red Arrows Sleep, until Thursday when they will be getting ready for their trip to Duabi and the Middle East.

At the show we met people from RAF Scampton and the Lincolnshire Heritage Society, who are always keen to invite children to the Heritage Museum at RAF Scampton (which is free of charge). They also talked about how they have a children's book author who comes into schools and does talk and literacy lessons to the pupils. One topic they discuss is Superheroes - not necessarily Batman and Superman but our War Heroes. They currently work mainly with Primary Schools but also welcome the opportunity to work with Secondary schools.

Please do contact us if you would like more information about any of this. Thank you again to all the schools and children who took part. Kim Tomkins - Mana Education kim@manaeducation.co.uk

Update 18th July 2017...

Last week we announced our Red Arrows winner as Eva from Caythorpe Primary school, where we had Red Arrows Engineer Louis Jelly attend their whole school assembly to deliver a presentation on the Red Arrows and present her with tickets to the Air Show - see the full story below.

Further to this the Red Arrows were delighted with all the entries to the competition and have said they would like to display all the Entries at the Airshow at RAF Scampton on the 9th and 10th September 2017! Which is fantastic news! They have advised they will display all the entries at the Heritage Hanger next to the Red Arrow, you can book your tickets here: http://scamptonairshow.com/

Although the competition is now closed, if you do have any entries that weren’t collected and you wish for them to be displayed at the Airshow please send them across to me by the end of August so I can include in the display.

I just want to say a huge thank you to every child that took part!

Eva's winning entry

Well done eva from everyone at mana education.

Mana Education had an outstanding response to our Red Arrows Primary School competition...

We have had a fantastic response to our Red Arrows Competition with over 500 entries from Primary school pupils across Lincolnshire!

It was very difficult to select just one picture, but there could only be one winner and this was Eva B (aged 7) from Caythorpe Primary School! Eva won a Family Ticket to the RAF Scampton Airshow in September where she can watch the Red Arrows Live. She also won a goodie-bag with signed pictures and photos from the Red Arrows team along with £75 of book tokens for her school!!

Eva impressed the Red Arrows team so much that to present her award, we invited Louis Jelley, Red Arrows Engineer from Circus 4 to come along to their assembly and made a presentation along with a question and answer session. Louis also kindly donated Red Arrows merchandise to the school including stickers, brochures, flags and cut out Red Arrow Planes.

Thank you so much to everyone who took part! Mana Education and the Red Arrows hope you have a wonderful Summer :-)

Well done to Eva pictured below with Louis Jelley from Red Arrows
